Abstract
Candida of the oral cavities and the stool of 575 healthy and sick children in Taegu area has been studied. The results are as follows:
1) The positive identification of Candida in healthy children was 11.3,¢¥¢¥ from the oral cavity and 9.2 % from the stool.
The highest rate of identification according to age group was 18.7 % from the oral cavity and 20.0% from the stool of infants. The rate decreased as the ag6 increased. Most of the isolated strain was C. albicans.
2) According to the feeding method in healthy infants, the rate was slightly high in the mixed feeding group (oral and stool each 26.7%), but no remarkable difference was observed between breast feeding and milk feeding groups.
3) According to the state of nutrition in healthy children, the rate was slightly high among "poorly nourished" group (oral 13.5,0 stool 10.30,0), and became slightly decreased among better nourished group.
4) To compare the rate of identification, the sick children group showed remarkably higher rate of 36.9% from the oral cavity and 28.2,0 from the stool than that attlong healthy children.
5) The difference of rate by various disease of children indicated relatively high ratio in diarrhea(oral 72.7%, stool 63.6%). pertusis (oral 60.0%, stool 40.0%) and peritonitis (oral and stool each 40.00%).
6) Remarkably high rate was obtained from the group that was treated by antibiotics: 46.30 from the oral cavity and 37.500 from the stool.
kmong antibiotics that were used, the rate was high with the Abcid, Erythromycin and Aureomycin, and no remarkable increase of rate was observed by other antibiotics.
7) Most of the isolated strains of candida inhibited at 105 concentration of Gentiana violet, 10--6 concentration of marachite green and 102 concentration of Borax.
